Jele follows the authorship recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Each person listed as an author must meet all of the following criteria:
- Substantial contribution to the conception or design of the work, or to the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data;
- Drafting the manuscript or revising it critically for important intellectual content;
- Final approval of the version to be published; and
- Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work, ensuring that questions about its accuracy or integrity are appropriately investigated and resolved.
Contributors who do not meet all criteria (e.g., data collection only, technical assistance, language editing, general supervision, or funding acquisition) should be named in the Acknowledgements section.
Corresponding author
The corresponding author is responsible for communication with the journal, ensuring that all co-authors have approved the submitted and final versions, and providing an Author Contribution statement (we recommend the CRediT taxonomy).
Changes to authorship
Any addition, removal, or reordering of authors after submission must be requested by the corresponding author with a written justification and signed consent from all authors. Authorship changes are not accepted after an article has been accepted for publication, except in exceptional circumstances approved by the Editor-in-Chief.
Gift, ghost, and guest authorship
Gift, ghost, or guest authorship is considered research misconduct and will be handled according to our Allegations of Research Misconduct policy.
